Elefin Coffee is a wonderful café and restaurant dedicated to the “community culture” in Bangkok. This unique establishment is owned by the Somboon family.

We started Salsa at Elefin Coffee in 2008 as a charity activity under the Asiafrica Foundation project. Since then, with your support, Salsa Practice and Party (SP&P) by “Salsa Concept” ™ has made a name for itself by attracting number of salseros (as) in Thailand and from around the world.

After 4 years of “free ride” we are requested to contribute in supporting Elefin Coffee while keeping our community active.

What is Salsa Concept

Welcome to "Salsa Concept". A Concept is an idea, an image or a symbol that represents a complex reality and reveals the true essence of things.

Salsa is the most complex dance and musical expression of our time. It is therefore, an ultimate Concept. Originally, Salsa was a popular Spanish and Italian word meaning sauce. There are different variants of Salsa in the World, depending on the ingredients, the country were it is made and the nature of the main course.

Tito Puente, the legendary Salsa musician once protested "I m a musician, not a cook"... Indeed, Salsa was taken from its original "cooking" context to designate a particular style of music developed during the 1960's and 1970's in New York city areas by Cubans and Puerto Ricans. Salsa music has kept all the specific features of the Salsa sauce, as a mix and fusion of different spicy ingredients and constituents.

Ruben Blades from Panama was the first to forsee that Salsa was a Concept that goes far beyond Salsa music and dance. He was right. Salsa is the outcome of a human odyssey. It is the fusion of African elements, Latin and Caribbean creativity and Western modernity. "Salsa Concept" is a cultural movement which aims at going beyond dancing to explore the essence of salsa through its origins, its versatility and its present universality.

Because Salsa Concept has been legally registered as an international trademark and copyright by the founder, it is now a valuable asset for our community. Members can enjoy more tangible benefits and effective protecton than any other group. Everything is in the concept and everyone belongs to the Concept.
