Dr.
Roland a French national, was born in Benin (West
Africa), the country of “Voodoo”, bell-based folk
music and Traditional Rumba. People from Benin were
among those taken from West Africa during the 17-19th
centuries to the Caribbean and to Cuba where they
planted the seeds of what is known today as Salsa.
Dr. Roland grew up in an atmosphere of traditional
Rumba and Afro-Cuban music, rhythm and dance. For
more than 20 years, he developed a genuine passion
for these expressions. When he settled in Paris
during the eighties, he improved his salsa profile
by taking classes with the best international instructors.
As a (real) Doctor in law and international lawyer
by profession, he had the opportunity to travel
around the world and to learn more about Salsa dance
and music, as well as to develop a network of Salsa
experts in different parts of the globe. As
a hobby, Dr. Roland has accumulated a unique collection
of original Salsa, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Rumba and
Caribbean music that he enjoys to share whenever
possible as guest DJ. Hailed as “Dr.Salsa” (The
only Salsa DJ with a Ph.D in Law) he played at major
events in Thailand where he is established, and
as guest DJ, in Europe and in Asia.
