Dr. Roland a French national, was born in Benin (West Africa), the country of “Voodoo”, bell-based folk music and Traditional Rumba. People from Benin were among those taken from West Africa during the 17-19th centuries to the Caribbean and to Cuba where they planted the seeds of what is known today as Salsa. Dr. Roland grew up in an atmosphere of traditional Rumba and Afro-Cuban music, rhythm and dance. For more than 20 years, he developed a genuine passion for these expressions. When he settled in Paris during the eighties, he improved his salsa profile by taking classes with the best international instructors. As a (real) Doctor in law and international lawyer by profession, he had the opportunity to travel around the world and to learn more about Salsa dance and music, as well as to develop a network of Salsa experts in different parts of the globe. As a hobby, Dr. Roland has accumulated a unique collection of  original Salsa, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Rumba and Caribbean music that he enjoys to share whenever possible as guest DJ. Hailed as “Dr.Salsa” (The only Salsa DJ with a Ph.D in Law) he played at major events in Thailand where he is established, and as guest DJ, in Europe and in Asia.

“Dr. Salsa” is also a performance character for shows and festival created and choreographed by Dr. Roland himself.

Dr. Roland is known as one of the most active Salsa promoters in Bangkok  He is currently the house DJ at the famous “Noriega’s Bangkok” where he gives Salsa classes and plays every Sunday nights his unique repertoire called: “Salsa around the World”. Dr. Roland has consulted for various global organisations and companies (such as Loreal and Conrad Hotel) for their “Salsa activities”.

Dr. Roland uses Salsa as a means to convey messages of friendship, tolerance, universality and multicultural diversity. He is the former Senior Vice-President of Thailand Salsa Club (TSC). He is the founder of Salsa Concept Company Ltd, and proud owner of www.salsaconcept.com. He is also Editorialist and columnist on www.bangkokjungle.com. His motto is "Bridging the culture gap and creating opportunities: la Salsa Nunca se Acaba".

Last but not least Dr. Roland was recently admitted as member of the International Dance Council (CID-UNESCO) and listed on the “Who’s Who in Dance Directory of the UNESCO.
